Some of you have got a filthy imagination ha ha. Looks like it'll be the A1 for me as well then.

Roadworks around the M18 have gone now. There is a bit a bit later on, but not much.

There was no road works when i was down there yesterday. There is a 50 zone down m1 nr northampton area iirc.

Doesnt take much for the m1 to grind to a halt..the a1 seems to flow nicely

Hmmmm.... there is of course an element of luck in that. I work in Enfield and live in Elloughton, so I spend a lot of time on the A1.... and I've spent many an hour looking at the same patch of grass / fence post / tree.... Two carriage road with no hard shoulder for quite a bit of it.... only takes a caravan losing a tire and the whole thing is closed.

Saying that, I've been stuck plenty of times on the M1 as well.....

Maybe I'm causing the problems! Don't worry, I'm driving down tonight, so the road will be reopen by tomorrow.

Well as an ex coach driver who traveled down to wembley alot i tried many a method, i have always found the a1 to be the lesser of the 2 evils.

Also worth keeping an eye on google maps for traffic updates,as iff going a1 and you can see brent cross is chocker...its worth coming off just after the tunnel nr hatfield and going across the a414 st albans back on to m1. Usually then your ok from there.

A1 then A46 to the M1 you miss all the roadworks on the M1 and miss out all the roundabouts at the bottom end of the A1. The A46 is a brand new road.

The roadworks have gone now.

We left Hull at 3 went down the m1 and m25 to our hotel at Uxbridge got here at 6.45 the m1 was quiet apart from a bit of roadworks near Northampton and a minor accident on the m25 otherwise would have been here at least 20 mins earlier.
