Try Phish live. An incredible band that have been around for over 30 years but few people have heard of despite playing to huge crowds.
If you want something more spikey try the psycobilly world of the Canadian band TheCreepshow.

Just got into Golden Void. American band. Bit like Black Sabbath but not quite as heavy. Been around for a few years by the looks of it. Great musicians.

Faux Pas, four young lads from York. Just won the centre stage competition at the O2 academy in Leeds to play the Leeds & Reading festival. Early days for them, producing their own stuff but sounding pretty good. Plenty of energy when playing live. With a little bit of The Cult thrown in for good measure. Discovered The Struts via XS Manchester when they played 'Kiss This'. Great tune.

XS Manchester have also just pointed me in the direction of 'Nathaniel Rateliff And The Night Sweats' Kind of.. southern, bluesy rock. Worth a listen
