Not a name that will be familiar with our younger fans but George was a winger who played the game tough when he played for Fc at the beginning of the 80''s .

We are raising much needed funds for help and support to family's that are effected by this illness. This is something very close to our family as my father in-law George Robinson, Ex Hull FC Player, is one of these people that is living with it daily. If everyone donates even a £1 then that's a pound given to support people when things get just that little bit hard, so please please help us raise as much money as possible. Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that’s the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. So it’s the most efficient way to raise money – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.

Good stuff mate, hope George and your family get all the help and support you need. I only ever remember George playing full back for Hull though, never dropped a high ball and never missed a tackle, once bringing the mighty Tony Banham down when he was in full flight at Tatters Field in Doncaster, great memories.

Hull KR Chairman Neil Hudgell, August 26th, 2014 said..

"In fact, the days of us signing any players from across the river are over. Our fans are loyal, passionate and only interested in one club. Taking players from our nearest rivals doesn't fit in with that brief."

My overriding memory of Robbie, is against the 1978 Kangaroos . The game was already well lost when during the final minutes a rampaging Graham Eadie joined the line at full tilt and went through like a wild bull towards the Gordon St end.
Brave Robbie stood in his way.
Eadie ran straight through him and over him , Robbie was laid out flat for a while, only to be greeted by a happy Eadie ruffling his hair on his way back from the try line.

You see Robbie never ever shirked a tackle, even when it was something a kin to tackling a train and with the game already over . Eadie appreciated the bravery of our slightly built Robbie in a contest he was never going to win.
And that moment of bravery will stay with me forever.

great stuff and well done! George was always a full back and a real hero a small man with a massive heart and so, so brave! He was a late replacement for Paul Woods in the semi final at Swinton that saw us get to the 1980 Wembley final. He's was still full of good story's when I last chatted to him a couple of years ago. Of being called up for Station Road he once said in an interview "I was sat at home on Friday having my tea and watching the Muppet show and there was a knock on the door with a taxi waiting to take me to Lancashire" Great character George and worthy of all the help we can give him and this charity.

Not only a player with a big heart but was always a Hull fan, he was a mascot at Wembley as a kid.
