Certainly was, didn't Briscoe score his try with only one boot on? Great atmosphere that night, match was delayed if memory serves. Remember taunting the Saints fans with "There's only one Shaun Long...."
First game of the season on Sky is always the defending champions.
The game sticks out in my memory as I had been to the 1pm kick off Liverpool / Everton derby earlier that day, then I went to Knowsley Rd to see Long, O'Meley and Fitzgibbon make their debuts.

Instead the games seem to get smaller every year in smaller grounds.
Going west to east is not that bad on a friday done it loads of times through work. PLus the kids are off school so the roads are better. The fact is that to Wigan and their fans, a semi is not really that big a deal as they are used to them. Clearly work, family, sky, money all mitigating factors also

wigan only took 6000 to a semi in the same town in 2013 so they were never likely to travel in any numbers tonight. No doubt plenty will manage to get themselves down to london for the final if they beat us tonight

I was that drunk i remember that when we scored i fell into a lady - who turned out to be O'Meley's wife. I spent the rest of the game apologising to her!
