Actually the first statement simply said he'd signed. The second statement - in response to the comments from Huddersfield - clarified that he'd agreed a contract in principle subject to a medical (hardly unusual) and if he passed then his contract would be in effect from the end of the season. This last statement simply follows on from that - he had the medical, passed, and signed the pre-agreed contract.
What's gone on in the background is anybody's guess. The RFL doesn't have a stellar record with the clarity or policing of their contract rules and it's entirely possible that all three sides - Huddersfield, Connor, and Hull FC - believe they are in the right. I fact it's even possible that all three have been told by the RFL that they're in the right.
It'll all come out in the wash eventually.
