Plus it sounds like we tried to do a deal but Huddersfield are understandably reluctant to release their best player. Established, top line NRL halves are out of our price range. In fact, due to the value of the position I'd guess that in terms of average salary, halves would be at the top of the list in the NRL, meaning even average NRL starters are likely out of our price range. So for established players coming out of the NRL we'd be looking at the tier below that or at aging veterans who can only get 1 year deals in Oz. Either way I am not sure we'd get value, we'd either pay top whack for an average / below average NRL half or have to give a veteran a longer contract than we'd like to.
That's just the reality of the NRL having a salary cap 3 times ours.
We've been too quick to write off young halves in the past, Sneyd is starting to look the real deal and Carlos has shown enough skill set IMO to prove he can be an effective long term 6, with skills complimentary to Sneyd, and potentially a high ceiling given an extended run at the position and some patience. Don't get me wrong, he's not the finished article and clearly needs to grow in confidence in the role, but he's worth a chance. It'd be great to get another year out of Pryce as back-up on a reduced contract, perhaps with some coaching responsibilities, but not sure how likely that is.
AP wouldn't pay the fee for broughy & they was no get out clause in his contract. So it's a no go with him.

Having watched him at centre i have to agree.Elusive runner, good ball handling and played well off Pritchard.Since his injury we have lost the attacking flair on the left. The club are doing great at the moment but since his injury Carlos has played one and a half matches at 6 the highlight of his play was a great long pass to Yeaman which resulted in a great try for Mini. Dont get me wrong i like Tuimavave but for Radford to make a complete U turn and now think Carlos will make the 6 we need after one and a half games particularly after comparing his early centre play to Joel Moon just seems ambiguous. What was the point in sending Motu to Australia?
You're a 'glass half empty' kind of guy aren't you Bonaire?

Maybe we should start trusting the people running the club.
Indeed. Whilst the first few years of Pearson's tenure were riddled with poor decision-making, which may still be in the back of people's minds, the things done in the last couple of seasons have been first class.
Comments like "What was the point in sending Motu to Australia?" are just down-right negative, short-sighted and come across a little bitter.

Said it before some just like it to go pear shaped just to say told you I was right & the clubs gash.

Roll on ambiguity, Radford seems to know what he's doing after all the insults he's had to take on here. It would appear that the coach and the owner know more about the club and it's everyday running than you do? Or are you a steward?

Fair play to East Hull FC fan. You were asked to name the names, and you did.
All those targets would have been good, and if the club are putting trust in Carlos, he has big shoes to fill. I really hope it works out for him, the club have got a lot of things right this year. Hopefully this will be another one.

Motu Tony went down under to check out potential targets for 2018 as well as 2017. He was also due to further develop relations with player agents and NRL clubs.
