We should be making a stand on this farcical situation. Were drawn at home in the Challenge Cup quarters, tie of the round, and the people who manage the the stadium for the benefit of the teams playing there are thinking of digging up the pitch !!! Surely they must rethink this mad situation. We have a real chance in this comp, home advantage is key. Even the thought of playing anywhere else is absolutely ludicrous. Adam will get round the table on this one, he has to.
Problem is that grass grows during the summer so we have little option but losing home advantage is massive. I can;t see any way it will be at the KCOM so the only question is where?
WormInHand wrote:Exactly this. This is our stadium during our season. Our agreement obliges the SMC to fulfill their obligations by providing an operational stadium for our home games during our season be they cup or league. The needs of the tenants supercede those of other commitments so the timing of the Rod Stewart concert seems optomistic if they want to squeeze in yet another pitch relaying.
If I were Pearson I would stand firm with this. If that means the SMC need to reschedule yet another pitch relaying I suggest they plan for a month of away games for City in, say, October. If, of course, Pearson is ooen to another suggestion which leaves his pockets overflowing and the fans happy then so be it.
But until the SMC come up with a suitably lucrative offer (bearing in mind sacrificing home advantage could affect our Cup progression and thus out season's profits) then Pearson should stand firm.
I would imagine that there are sub clauses in the contract that mean you wont have a leg to stand on regards the timing of the pitch relaying. Its rubbish but the chances of the football being moved around Rugby are nil. Surely the best situation for you would be to use CP, nearest and easiest for your fans to get to and the best chance of keeping home advantage.
Impressive win btw, keep that form running and can't see Catalan troubling you in the QF.
No big works on the undersoil heating this year so two weeks should be enough for a relay. We will play on a sandy looking pitch for a few weeks while it takes hold anyway as normal. KC stadium all the way.

Its not two weeks. Rod Stewart is there on the 14th and the games start from the Thursday 23rd, so assuming the work gets underway on the Wednesday after Rod, that leaves from 9 days, not enough grass growth and more sand. Our next home match after the CC is July 8th which would have given just over 3 weeks which is suitable.
