Scored after 2mins followed up a few mins later and then started to go gung ho, offload in own 20m and for the next 20 odd mins were against the cosh with kick offs out on full and poor kicks in play and general play. Last 10mins of half kicked on, basic rugby and 2 converted tries.

Second half one way traffic.

Not sure what conversion rate was, but we should have had 40.

Batley arrived with high hopes of a win, but really failed to impress. Yes, the sending off did not help their cause, they failed to score in the second half.
Our error count was cause for concern, but then we defended very well. The kicking gameis still a problem to be addressed, failing to convert so many times is a crime.
Still a good win against early season league leaders.

Attendance 753. Not sure if that counts kids tho as they were let in free with no ticket.

Cracking result against the early front runners! Thought the grunt up the middle today was notable, if not breaking tackles at least gaining extra mtrs before going to ground.
A couple of times we did not play sensible rugby, break up the middle in the first half got to batley 40 mtrs instead of taking the tackle and getting quick ptb we tried to offload. Breaking the tackle and getting penalised for not realising tackle was complete. Kicking out on the full. But goal line defence was good. Red card was with just over 25 to go the game went a bit flat after that.
Conversion rate yep worrying but wind was never going to make it easy

First 10 mins we started quickly scored two tries, and then went sleep as usual doing daft things like kicking out on the full, until last 10 mins when we scored 2 more tries to go in at half time with a very flattering 20-8. Bately should have been ahead at half time, but they bombed tries and at least in first half their GL defence was shocking, we scored every time we got into their 20.

Second half much better we ground them down, and apart from last 7 or 8 mins when the players relaxed a bit (although GL defence was really good in those mins) I never though we would lose. Sending off did have an impact as it became damage mitigation for them at that point, but we were never in danger 2nd half. Final score should have been better for awful kicking.

However with Sheffield and Fax losing points again all in all good week. This makes the Sheffield game in 2 weeks a huge game for them. If we win game in hand we will have 8 points over them, and if we win at Sheffield that would be 10 points (5 games). I don't seem them catching us if we go 10 points up on them.

Bately having good season but not top 4 quality (they will still do better than last season), Dewsbury also not going to challenge, so if we can knock Sheffield out of the equation, then it will be between us, Fev and Fax for the two spots, and we have a great chance of making it as long as we stay focused and eliminate the errors plus sort our kicking out. We can't miss 10 points vs Bradford in next home game for instance

Geoff

Good game overall. Wind was tricky, but to only convert 2 from 7 not great. why was Wes not playing, still suspended?

Thought our defence was very good and general go forward from slyney, Offendeal, ioanne and the rest was very good - but we got carried away and our handling was poor at times. Penalty count seemed very heavy against us and we need to learn to play the referrees better. But given other results a good weekend.
