Indeed, a massive call to make. And despite what the nasty man from Wigan who's enjoying himself on here says, Myler was offside, Lee Smith wasn't :)

On Ganson, I think we can also put Tansey into the was off category, i don't mind admitting that one

Yep, Myler was offside but it was still a lucky break in that they could probably have given another 100 or so offsides during the match too. Still think we'd have won that game in extra time without that decision ;)

The Smith era got my vote, although Murray's time here was special. So many favourites in that team - Morley, Glanville, Fleary, Farrell, Masella, Harris, Godden, Blackmore, Sterling... And Jamie Mathiou :D

I very much enjoyed the first season and a bit under McClennan, and some of the WCC games too.

All of them have their ups and downs. 2005 was incredibly depressing given how far ahead we were early doors. Forget the Bulls signing Morley, the real turning point was Senior getting injured (and deciding to play in the CC Final). 2006 was also one of the more disappointing seasons in memory, although it resembles many of the seasons Smith has had at Warrington since.

Plenty of evidence. Powell in 2003 won 41 points in the league. 41 points was how many Bradford had in finishing 2nd in 2004. Extremely possible that Powell could've gone a step further with the additions of Bai and Lauitiiti, the likes of McGuire, Burrow, Mathers being a year more experienced, Sinfield being a year experienced in the captains role and Bailey and Chev Walker returning who missed the end of 2003 after getting locked up. With those additions then the small margins he missed out on things.....2 points in the CCF and 1 point in the playoffs could've easily been reversed. His big stumbling block proved to be Bradford but they were never as strong after 2003 even if they did still reach the next 2 finals and quite importantly they never properly replaced Lowes at hooker who retired after 2003 who was so key for a team whose strong point was their forwards.

you make some valid points, and i can certainly see both sides of the argument.

Imo, Powell was unlucky at the time to be moved aside, he could well have gone on to achieve what Smith did, maybe more but we obviously never know.

The fact he has gone away, worked hard at the lower levels and did well with Fev and is now working wonders with what he has at Cas shows he always had ability. I would have him back at Leeds no problem.

The company I work for was 20 years old in January, and it's my 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday (although "marriage" and "who I work for" are pretty much the same thing). I guess it all ties in with Leeds in SL, the bankrupt start, the slow building towards success, a couple of key British signings (my kids), a golden era of sporting success (my lad's mini rugby team won everything - with me coaching of course - and then he doubled up by becoming one of the top 2-3 swimmers in the SW, and in the top 10-15 in the country). Followed by a total disaster of a year ( my son has been severely ill since summer, with a now diagnosed iron depletion - quit twice - but now slowly trying to recover some form for the end of the season).
Now I have financial stability but some work to do on the "stadium" and am struggling to get back to full slimness.

Oh absolutely, it's a bit of a refereeing pet hate of mine in that incidents like that are penalised as offside but others aren't. Another recent for instance was in the Cas game this year. Cas were on our line and dropped the ball but we got penalised for offside. I'm willing to bet if they hadn't dropped the ball we wouldn't have been penalised. The same goes for interference/holding down at the play the ball, if you don't make a big fuss of it you rarely get a penalty for it.

I also think Warrington would have lost to Saints in the Grand Final that year had they made it instead of us.

No that definitely was offside :D not by the 50 or so yards that some people would have you believe but he was offside.

That was bloody funny though, and if anyone saw the 20 years of SL programme on Sky recently obviously GH found it rather funny too :)

Its funny how sporting moments links in with checkpoints in your life isn't it?

find its the same with major football tournaments like the Euro's and of course the World Cup.
