For the last few weeks I've watching repeats of the superb Clocking Off series on the CBS Drama channel (it's on Freeview if you dig deep enough! ).
I remember some of them from way back when they first shown. Grown-up and realistic portrayals of working-class people going about their business are so rare on TV, the quality of the scripts and performances from a great ensemble cast put virtually all modern TV drama to shame.
If you haven't seen them before, or even if you have, they are well worth a look. I don't know how much longer they'll be on for, but it appears to be on most weekdays from 9pm till 10.
Hello, this looks interesting: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/league/news/article.cfm?c_id=79&objectid=11541949. Are we about to see someone actually doing something to get the game out of the stagnant quagmire? Can't criticise the ambition, whether it'll come off is another matter, especially if the clubs refuse to release players.

aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.
Anybody else having slight issues with the site... slow, occasionally freezing?

Have had for a week or two lately, ads very slow to load I think it is. The fan kicks in on my lap-top, and I find if I try to open another tab on my browser, that usually helps (after a bit) to get things going again. Still very annoying, though, I don't get it on other sites.

A few random timings indicate that it's simply the adverts slowing the page rendering. Turning off all the blockers I've got and allowing everything to load (and taking up near as damn it half the screen) results in load times up to 20+ seconds. Just enabling Adblock & NoScript (in Firefox) brings this down to a second or 2 (on a 40MB FTTC line). I know adverts pay for sites like this but when they end up wrecking usability, the site designers really should have another think about whether they're really required. And that's not even considering externally sourced adverts (ie those pulled in from sites all over the Web) could be randomly inappropriate or be hiding a Trojan to merrily destroy someone's machine without adequate AV/firewall or auto popup blocking turned off.
Nice to see Matty Bowen at the Cowboys game last night; his nephew (a centre) was making his debut for the Cowboys, and Matty had presented him with his jersey pre-game.
