We desperately need an experienced head coach who can steady the ship and get us headed in the right direction. It's what we've needed since sharp left but we won't do it. We'll either appoint a failed coach like macnamara or rowley or some other former assistant with no track record. As someone once said, it's like sticking a learner driver in your new car and not expecting him to write it off

daniel anderson still coaching?

wasnt hundred per cent sure, realistically would any coach come from the nrl?

morgan? mcnamara?

people say powell form cas but i doubt Pearson would pay a fee to buy his contract out, aslo who's to say powell would want to come to hull

morrison form dewsbury seems to have a few admirers

I do wonder, short of a Wayne Bennett, whom fans would be delighted to see us appoint. Powell is the obvious one but seems very happy where he is and realistically would be at best a sideways move for him to swap a highly functioning top 4/5 team for arguably bigger potential 7-10 scrappers. But beyond Powell, who is an ambitious but realistic potential target that would get fans really excited?

The Venn diagram for experienced, successful and attainable isn't something to fill you with optimism.

Exactly this. When you scan down current SL coaches, few had stellar coaching careers prior to their appointment. In this context the expectation we could get a "proven experienced" coach looks unrealistic.

I don't think there's many coaches that would get universal praise from the fans.

Perhaps the better question to ask everyone is what do people think we need should Radford leave? Someone with experience as a head coach? A tactician? Someone to shore up our defence? Someone with a flamboyant style? A motivator? What would be ideal for you and who do you think we could realistically bring in to meet your requirements?

A manager of men. Who is a top coach held in both high regard and respected by his team? And by that I don't mean too close to them or soft on them so they 'like' him.

Who expects us to get a "proven experienced" coach? As far as I'm aware I'm the only one mentioning it and I've specifically said we won't get one. Or is it another of your made up quotes?

It's an interesting point. I read a piece a while back criticisizing a Premier League club for drawing up a shortlist of very different candidates for their vacancy. The suggestion being that they didn't really know what they wanted and had no clear plan.
In the PL though you've got a whole world of options, beyond Harry Redknapp, Sam Allardyce, Tony Pulis and Steve McClaren.

A detailed checklist is probably not as valuable if you are choosing between the half dozen or so familiar options touted for SL jobs.
