He would not have it, I think he was under instructions from the Hethringtons, they was not gonna spend any more money then they had to. We never made the play-offs that season and crowds went down by 2,000. I've got faith in Pearson when it comes to the crunch, Radford will go if he can't pull this back round there's no doubt about that. The "can I have a word in my office" quote is not something Adam shys away from!!!
I'm really interested in what Motu Tony's influence in all this is. He's brought some good Polynesian players in but must also be frustrated. Plus if I were Frank Pritchard and coming over here to see, say, Radford replaced by Rowley (who'd be more experienced than Radford when appointed for example), I'd be underwhelmed.
One issue is cost, clearly. I don't mean cost of the head coach exclusively, more the sort of comprehensive back room setup a really top coach would demand to do their job with parity to Wigan and Leeds. We're miles off that currently. Another is certainty, Middle 8s a real possibility on current form, so again a barrier to attracting the right candidate, particularly with the associated difficulties in attracting players for next year because those negotiations will be starting now.
