Positives for me:
For entertaining rugby
Forwards
Never giving in, last season the last two games would have been easy away wins.
New signings, really impressed with Taylor and Manu, Washy has impressed and still think Carlos will be a great signing, has been very well watched. Frank will also come good when the weather is better.
Houghton and Shaul have been excellent.
Goal kicking.
Areas of improvements:
Discipline
Using our brains and not panicking
Closing a game out
Goal line defence(particularly the right side)
Use of subs
Consistency of halfs.
We have been lucky with injuries so far, they are starting to come, so it could be a good test of our squad.
Big three games which will test the team and coach.
Top post Dave. I agree with all those positives and the areas we need to improve on.
Regarding that first positive, I would say that based on these opening games we've closed the gap on our best and worst performances. We've seen two great wins and two narrow defeats in which we were in with a chance of a positive result right up to the end. We've yet to be completely outclassed or deliver an abject performance. I've enjoyed what I've seen for the most part even if it has been somewhat frustrated these last two games.
The worry I have about the areas that need improving is that they are largely the same issues that have plagued us season after season. It's early days this year so there's obviously time to improve but because I have that deja-vu feeling about this I won't be holding my breath that we will see such improvements. I'll be hoping the team proves me wrong though!
