Despite the loss tonight we are starting to be more competitive.

There is a vast improvement on last year and we are playing for the full 80 minutes, which Wakefield fans have always been appreciative of. If players have made an effort we are 100% behind them.

There seems to be a good spirit in this team and finally a bit more pressure on players to pLay well as there is a bit more strength in depth.

I am really confident that if we can cut down on the uneccesary penalties it will give us the time to gel and allow us to become a very good team.

We are progressing well and a couple of wins will boost the confidence of the team to progress a little faster.

If it wasn't obvious before it is now - we will struggle this season. Yet as you say we are competing and we are lasting the full 80 which hopefully means we can only get better where as last year we only got worse.

We all hoped for one of those rags to riches, one season turn around you sometimes get. After four games I don't see that but then perhaps the rot was just to deep. However for me Smith has still delivered. We are technically not a top team because we simply don't have the quality players as yet. However where team spirit, fitness and general play is concerned Smith has pretty much fixed it. Whether this is enought to avoid the MPG or even get us a possible top 8 is yet to be seen. However at least the basics are there which they certainly were not last season.

It's down to the players now, if they continue to buy into the Smith doctrines they will be ok, if they don't we are probably stuffed.

So I think most people agree we've improved, I know it's difficult to put a finger on it, but how much have we improved, 10%, 20%, 30% ? What I'm trying to get to (admittedly round the trees) is, if we have improved and we again end up in the MP game, without knowing who's gonna get there, would this improvement be enough to beat the championship team (or maybe another SL team?

Think the team has improved every game but it needs its better players to stay fit, on form and injury free if Trinity are to come up with some shock wins throughout the season.

Any update on Bill Tupou and Danny Kirmond? Kirmond on his day can be a match winner and Bill Tupou is a strong runner and hits hard in the tackle.

I'm looking forward to my family shouting on the red, white and blue against the Catalan Dragons next week... :ROCKS:

Good thing about 2016 - we are looking a lot better and more competitive

Bad thing about 2016 - the best team so far is Cas.

Too early to tell i would say. Working backwards from the end of the season maybe 10%-15%, from the middle just before Webster went 100%(!) and from the beginning when we were 2 from 2 and thought we were flying, about the same. The key indicator will be around the halfway point of the regular season once everyone has settled, combinations have had time to bed in and the leagues have settled down.

You could say a million percent and you'd be right. There simply was no team at certain points last year.

The only reason we didn't get stuffed by 80+ every game was because ours players wern't even quick enough to get out of the way (bit extreme but it makes the point).

It may be cack handed at times but there does appear to be a genuine desire to be as good a team as they can be. How good that is we'll know in September :D

Whilst I don't think that you threatened a win last night, I thought yours was a decent, spirited display. I think that your 'problem' as far as judging where you are comparatively and probably ours on Thursday will be the improvement of Salford and really unfortunately as far as I'm concerned that Widnes seem to be up for it.

Teams taking points off each other and more genuine Top 8 Contenders rather than it being cut and dried 1-9 may or may not help your cause?

Enjoyed watching England, Johnson second half, Miller and Finn kept going and a decent effort from Hall.

Good luck with the rest of your season

Thanks Uncle Rico. I think Gidley and Sandow were a class apart on Friday and really stood out. Overall I think Wire were sharper and better drilled than Wakefield. To some degree I think the quality of the players was a factor in that.

I enjoyed the game on Friday and can see continued progress at Wakefield. We might get a win against Catalans who don't travel well. I do feel though that in a few weeks if we catch a team on an off day we could dish out a comprehensive victory.

Good luck to the Wire for the rest of the season and let's hope for another exciting game in the return leg.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Sharing First World problems so you can get it right first time.

It's a sign of how bad we were last year when we are encouraged by having the worst points difference in the league and the worst defence. And even more so by the fact that our defence is what encourages me the most!

At least we aren't bottom.
