Whatever happens we need to keep Ellis in the set up, even if he doesn't want to go into coaching I reckon he'd do a similar thing to what Feka does in the community plus maybe would help on the conditioning, rehab and player welfare

Conditioner I'd rather spend the money in a qualified sports science conditioner instead of paying another ex players pension

Agreed, too many people with sentimental thoughts regarding the unqualified/unproven on the back of been a decent player.
Community roles are all well and good but retired/ex players IMHO should not be on the payroll for that, they should do it because they want to with only expenses covered. When you have players not in the 18 or injured capable of interacting in the community there are more than enough to go around.
I'm not saying there is no role for Ellis if he were to retire whilst at the club but why is it that fans always seem to think great players are anything more than that...the vast majority aren't. Doesn't even take into account Ellis might not want anything further to do with the club once we lose him as a player with irons in other fires.

Ellis has not only been immense on the field when fit, but also off it in training the young kids. Thats evident.

If he feels he can go round again, take the risk. Players of his calibre are rare.
