Travelling around the internet visiting various social media sites and forums, I have come to the conclusion that more people than ever are outwardly pronouncing hatred for all things Leigh. I do not think this will change either regardless of how our season turns out in 2016. More people seem to want us to fail this year than last.
So what is it about LRLFC that people have taken such a massive dislike to. Some of what I read is not just your normal banter either. Is it our success? Is it the content of some of the interviews given or press releases sent out from club officials? Is it the fact we appear to have more money than others?
Or is it just the fact that the haters are just jealous Yorkshire folk. Strap yourselves in people because we are in for the same as last season if not more.
A handful of (very) gobby fans rubbing people up the wrong way.
Derek being... well Derek
He is a top bloke but he likes to wind people up and I feel people take him a lot more seriously than he takes himself.
The Yorkshire mafia in our division just agree with each other and the narrative becomes 'fact' the more they repeat it (i.e us being thugs last year despite us playing the best rugby around and being no worse than the opposition who came to throw us off our game)
A few of our players aren't beyond a wind up either such as Barlow or McNally plus everyone loves to hate people like Hock.
That plus our steady rise on and off the pitch since the new board took over, our success in recent seasons and the fact we have spent some money on high profile players means everyone is ready to laugh at us if we fail.
If people don't like us then that is fine. Our club has transformed in recent years and the effects of that is felt throughout the club and the whole town. We get to watch the most entertaining side we've had in years!
If people are bitter or dislike us and want us to fail then it will just make it all the sweeter when we succeed
