I need somewhere to vent my spleen.

Don’t get me wrong, over too many years to mention I’ve seen my share of naff advertisements, however the latest offerings from the largest Supermarket group on our sacred isle have really got my back up.

Basically, am I missing a trick?

How old is the bloke who’s playing the son, because he looks in his twenties to me? Now, I have two sons & I remember when they were in their early twenties & not once did they act like twelve year olds.

So in the advert, is this bloke pretending to be around twelve years of age or does he have the mental age of a twelve year old?

Either way I find it both infuriating & disturbing in the same measure, could anyone explain it to me?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, the people that came in. They're eating the cats! They're eating the pets!

Is that the one with the all-knowing female and the two dumb, idiotic, immature males?

Standard for advertising to make males look like idiots

Current advertising on the whole is absolutely awful and dumbed down to the point of being annoying. The Foster's cheerleader ad is the epitome of portraying the males of the species as morons. I wouldn't touch Foster's with a barge pole but this advert actually makes me hate their product even more! It's a stark contrast when comparing to Guinness' sublime offerings over the years.

Even car manufacturers, who used to be renowned for good ads, are copping out with generic young people driving through city scapes to the soundtrack of whichever band is cool the week it is aired. I doubt there will ever be an advert that gets anywhere near to the beauty of BMW's 'Fastest saloon car on the planet' for the E39 M5. Well worth a view if you've never seen it. Ironically it was banned in some countries due to it being 'mis-leading', proof yet again that the human race requires a considerable amount of dumbing down for their YouTube-cat-video-warped minds.

I have to single out the Head and Shoulders advert as the dumbest ad at the moment though, there are so many questions that need answering. Is Joe Hart earning so little as a Premiership goalkeeper that he has to top up his wages lapping up dandruff chants? Is his greed for money driving him to take part in this sheer stupidity like it's a good idea? Has the obsession with celebrity really come this far? Who at H&S thought 'I know, lets have a premiership goalkeeper and a dandruff chanting football crowd, that'll sell shampoo'?

Indeed - it's what I've long referred to as the 'Stupid Dad' syndrome; where fathers and sons within the perfect little advert world families are portrayed as simpletons. Perhaps it's a backlash against the former habit of treating women as nothing more than homely mums, or bits of totty?

I hate adverts, and I'm 100% certain they don't work on me - simples!

Happens all the time, men being made to look like idiots so the woman can come along and save the day. I don't know if this is because they're trying to appeal to the women so much to get them to purchase their goods, by appealing to their inner 'all men are idiots' moods, or, if it is just revenge like you say.

There was a classic one a few years back for a cleaning product, that made cleaning 'so easy, even a MAN can do it', featuring a man with a very puzzled look on his face. Wasn't sexist towards men though, it was sexist towards women because it was implying that 'cleaning is a woman's job'. I'm all for gentle ribbing between sexes, but i'm sure if the roles were reversed, and women were made to look as daft as the men do, the adverts wouldn't get on air. Modern day ''feminism'' has a lot to answer for

it is exactly those "homely mums" (who lead the weekly shopping) that the Tesco adverts are targeted to.
