I remember Jesus Runner - before running was a thing, he was all over Lupset at all hours of day and night, dressed up like a 118 man; he got dogs abuse from us kids, but his devotion to the running a long way programme made him impervious to our taunts. Ahead of his time!
I seem to remember a guy on Kettlethorpe who I think moved to Lupo. He could sprint and run long distance. Long black hair always in a track suit. It must be 50 years ago.

Not sure if it's the same bloke, I knew a lad in the early 80's called Martin Hampshire, lived in Normy, he just ran and ran everywhere he moved away somewhere and had a real big beard. He had an unusual way of running, he didn't seem to bend his ankles. Might not be the same guy but you never know.

Well bellycouldtackle, my inside info tells me that you may well have got your wish, sounds like the players aren't having it easy, six am till four pm is the norm at the moment. Hopefully they'll be as fit as lops come the season start.

The Jesus Jogger that you refer to was, I believe, originally from the top of Broadway area in Lupset and his name was Frank Cooper. He attended Snapethorpe school at the same time as myself. His favourite attire was black Jogging bottoms, "Coalite" T-shirt and white pumps. He wore these whatever the weather and time of year. You could regularly see him jogging along Barnsley Road. During his school years he was quite a good runner and rugby player. Don't know where he disappeared to.
