We used to do Moodies then over the precinct to Yates, queued for 15mins in an airport type system to get a Dock of Australian white wine, it was awful, probably the equivalent of the yoof of today buying shots.

The Dock wine was crap, but everyone went in and had one, we must have been nuts

Was that opposite Intercon/Raquels? If so it was originally a basement delicatessen called Hughes. The stairs had mirrors both sides. Used to go with mi mam to buy salami and similar foreign stuff.

Some good pubs gone over the years and had some good laughs in them and that dock god it was witches poison dolly grays and grab a granny night mitre for match of day before going in mecca my mate doing door on Raquels and after hours and they go on about youngsters of today binge drinking wonder where they got it from.

The Globe pub stood at right angles to the Smiths Arms Next door on the corner of Ings Road was the Harlequin Cafe Between the two pubs was the gate to the mill Patons & Baldwins or Hayley's can't remember ...
