If there was a trend of young exciting players leaving and/or being ousted consistantly from their position other than for playing reasons then we would have to ask why.
If a players attitude is awry (according to the coach) and becomes something they feel the need to change and it then doesn't change it is still difficult to point a finger as to whom is at fault from our (outside) perpective. It could solely be the attitude of the player, one that is unworkable, but also it could be down to other factors. Is there a gap between an expectation/standard and what is realistic, are the expectations applied equally to all individuals, is there a clash of personalities, is there an underlying issue not being addressed, do the coaching staff have the ability and temperament to address the problem correctly?
There are times when there's a failure of both parties, however the moulding of players from the youth system should be able to sort out these issues & target poor attitudes early on, to also then decide whether it's worth holding onto a player or not.
Unless we have all the facts and know exactly whom said what when, to whom and how we'll never know what goes on.
We do know whatever was being done by the coaching team to address Lineham's defensive issues wasn't working, whether player fault or coaching fault we won't know until maybe the back of next season if anybody is really that bothered. He's gone and we need to focus on the players that are here next year.
