I really think we would have gone backwards with Gentle as him and McRae didn't recruit the right players in the right areas and relied on David Howes for their recruitment.
Despite two decent seasons under Gentle their long term plan was poor and they had to go, the next person who took over would always have a tough job, I still don't think Radford is the man to take us forwards, but let's hope he proves us wrong.
Moaning about the same thing on different threads every single day is pointless and boring.
Your sounding more and more like easthullfc everday, he really as brain washed you, if he's making you do and say things with pm's you should report him, stand up to him , don't be afraid , helps is out they

Dave's a smart man & sees the clubs heading forward. He also sees the moaners for what they really are. Tedious, repetitive & very boring.

I think If Radford doesn't progress us further next season he will have no choice but replace him, I don't think sacking him now and bringing in someone else will help as it will just set us back again. I've said before I'd like an experienced and proven assistant to be brought in.
Even if Radford was sacked tomorrow the squad is in better position than when Gentle was sacked and Radford and Tony deserve some credit for that.
I have real difficulty agreeing that Gentle set us back, personally. The bottom line is that we were better when Gentle left than when he took over. For me, he undeniably improved us, the only question is whether it was by enough.
I think the question of getting rid of Radford is like Gentle 2 years ago. If it's for a better coach it might (probably will) be the right thing. If we're going to get an inferior replacement then what's the point? I do find it a little hard to think that we couldn't do better, though.
Radford and Tony do deserve some credit for some of their recruitment. I'm not quite convinced that this year's squad is better than the 2013 one, though. In fact apart from the halves and 2013 being another good prop short, I personally think 2013's was better. I don't really want to get back into the whole Gentle v Radford comparison, TBH, I think I've said my piece and it's clear how I think about it. All I initially wanted to say was that I think the recruitment under Gentle was not as bad as is now painted, nor really any worse than what has come since so far.

The lack of balance is daft. Who amongst the fanbase predicted top 4? Hardly anyone. We've finished the regular season 7th and had the toughest of QF cup draws. We're not a top 4 team, don't have the resources. That said Pritchard, Taylor and Fonua are impressive signings which will likely strengthen us.
Tony Smith said his squad could win silverware. Koukash has made outlandish claims for a couple of years. Mike Smith said Rovers not making the 8 would be a "total disaster". Overstatement of unfounded ambition is not uncommon it seems.

That's not a very good idea.

We are buying players that are as good off the field as they are on it, the youth is doing really well also. Salford have spent a fortune & done nothing. So it's about getting the balance right.

The trouble with Radford is that he wants to build a side that simply bullies the opposition, people say it all the time but it's impossible not to draw comparisons with the Bradford side he played in, excluding one massive difference of course, they won everything in sight.
Radford is holding the club back in so many ways he has to offset this with short term success on the field. He has little interest or desire to work with and bring through any talented young backs, he has no desire to see any pace in the back line and has no desire to play exciting or entertaining rugby, these are big issues for RL fans. On the flip side regardless of what anyone on here claims, if he got the side finishing in the top 4 and challenging nobody would here about the lack of creative freedom or care about the structure of attacking play, winning games however 'ugly' would offset that. I don't think the squad is good enough on paper, but think with his approach we will need to finish in the top 4 next season, he's creating a rod for his own back and doing it the hard way in my opinion.
