I went to that school it was called Winifred holtby by then though, he was great if you played rugby but awful to some, I remember he used to make people swim in their outdoor PE kits! Couldn't get away with it nowadays.

Jake the Peg wrote:Read my post you jumped on again, I said could, not would. Bullying comes in many forms in the workplace and it's often down to how the incident(s) make the recipient feel even if the perpetrator wasn't being vindictive. Employment law is a minefield heavily weighted (it seems to me) in favour of the employee.

I never said that radford's comments have ever amounted to bullying, merely that public criticism of a player could be classed as bullying - a general comment, not one aimed at anything radford has ever said. I doubt a pro sportsman would ever take such action anyway as their career would be over

We were speaking specifically about Radford

Obviously there could be a situation where a coach absolutely hammers a player, singles them out unreasonably for criticism, but that's just stating the obvious. Why bother even writing it, when we can speak about Radford and specifically what he's said? Odd.

My take on Radford's criticism of players I put down to naivety and stupidity. The interviewer asks a loaded question on a certain player, and instead of Radford seeing the question for what it is and deflecting it, he answers too honestly.

For example; "So how did Jamie Shaul play today?"

Should be answered along the lines of "I'm not going to comment on individual players, we're a team and we lost today".

Radford takes the bait, either because he's inexperienced or an idiot, but not because he's a bully.

Darryl Powell on the other hand serves afternoon tea for his lads after training with a choice of Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling and more recently some of the fruit teas that have become popular. He bakes the scones and carrot cake himself during the last hour of field work so that they are slightly warm when served. He personally checks to make sure that all grazed knees and elbows are dabbed with a bit of TCP and cleaned up properly then sees each player home personally to make sure they're safe. He's never once criticised a player during training and has never fallen out with anyone in his squad on the training field. Always has a big hug for anyone continually making the same mistakes week in an week out and if the players don't do what he asks of them then he simply has a wry smile and mutter "Kids eh ?".

Haha,he better prepare himself for a visit from his players solicitors as he has had the audacity to call their 2nd half performance against us PATHETIC,he's nothing but a bully.

So by your own definition, Radford isn't a bully? Because I'm pretty sure he's not a poster on this forum.
