If both clubs are aiming for a 50% reduction in costs, then the only improvement I can see is in the performance of the teams as a whole. eg. better squad of players. If, at 17, he's good enough to play first team, then he'll play wherever he's drafted or offered a deal. Until such time as he can choose where to play, by means of being good enough, It happens under the current system, Taylor being the perfect example.
If Hull was producing an abundance of top SL players, this would be more of an issue.
And yes, I have been to watch the current u19's play, and if a merged Hull academy side was playing the Warrington academy, (most likely merged with the Widnes academy side) I'd go to watch the potential players of the future, from both sides.

What would happen in the scenario that we have an injury crisis and we need an under 19 player to fill the gap for 1 game. Do we have to sign that player onto a full time contract, or can he just play for 1 game, go back to the under 19's and then still be available for Rovers to sign?

There us certainly a few things to iron out, I think you have have to the draft after under 16's.

So in that scenario, the under 19's (playing in blue and yellow) will be a team mixed with players signed on to the books of Rovers and Hull FC - and could be team mates one week, opponents the next?

Current players are ring fenced for the next four years. plenty of time to iron out any issues in the system. I'm all for it if it brings more players through to 1st team for both clubs and I'd have no qualms watching them play.
