Me neither, that was sort of my point. The criteria for meriting inclusion in the Super 8s is now winning at Belle Vue. If you finish 8th but don't win at Belle Vue, you need to surrender your place with honour intact.

You know exactly what my point was so don't come across all dumb. We shouldn't lose tomorrow and I don't think we will. In the event that we do and fail to qualify for the 8, there will be no justification for hard luck stories or claims we have been badly done to. And bringing up the Rovers result, really? You may as well dredge up results from the 75-76 season. They have about as much relevance.

WTF? The team we're battling against for 8th and the fixture you say defines whether we deserve a place in the 8, which they lost, this season, is irrelevant? That's nonsensical. Either way it looks like we'll fall short. No excuses, but there haven't really been any. We've had a good run with injuries this year and have tried very hard with some excellent seasons from Watts, Mini and Ellis. Coherence with ball in hand and cutting edge, plus inadequate quality at centre has done for us. Again.

That has sparked my memory as to the last time that I attended a Hull v Wakefield match. It was at Wembley in 1960 when I was in London and took along a bunch of fellow students including some who were seeing their first League match. They included 1 from India,1 from Spain, a couple from Scotland and a couple of southerners. I had persuaded them that they would see Hull win in revenge for their their defeat at the same venue a year earlier and was so confident that I said I would refund their ticket money if Hull lost.
Thankfully they enjoyed the game so much they did not want their money back.
This game is all about the forwards. Without our first choice halves we have even less cutting edge than usual so the forwards need to be really dominant. If they are I can see it turning out like the Magic game. If they have one of their off days or just don't have much left in the tank from Friday then we'll struggle imo.
Losing tonight doesn't mean we can't make the 8 but winning tonight would make it likely. Lose and we need to win 3 of our 4 remaining games which is probably a tough ask with wigan and cas at home in there plus a trip to fortress preston road. Win and we should go into Sunday's match with a lot of confidence and hopefully a win leaving us really only needing 2 more points from 6 to be certain of a top 8 finish.
Key tonight will be to defend well. Whilst they have some capable players, wakefield's attack is probably the only one in SL worse than ours so if we can keep up the defensive effort then I expect us to win a tight game probably by 10-12 points
