Good to have you back Wilf and thanks for this weeks diary, I agree with your point about the separation of the fans from the club but this is just part of being a 21st century business, which sport now is, where the intention is to project an image to the Sky sports subscribers that is paletable, presentable, fit for human consumption etc hence Thursday rugby.

what an absolutely marvellous diary this week!, I myself have been having those feelings for some time now, about the game in general and hull fc in particular, and not really understanding why? but you have put into words exactly the reasons for my malaise. I really don't like the feeling I have now of being resigned to to disappointment!!! I actually think only a WIN at Wembley will ignite my passion, so lets hope we get past leeds on Friday eh ( of course this could just be the ramblings of a retired old git with to much time on his hands lol)

I have watched Fc since the fifties my first game was at Wakefield a week before the Cup final ,remember getting free tickets for the Wigan after clearing straw and snow of the pitch which we laid on to watch the game and seeing the great Arthur keegan break his collar bone tackling Billy Boston. Have some great memories and hope i live much longer to achieve many more .My point is the big difference then and now is the fans ,who were not afraid to voice an opinion were nothing like some fans now who at the first chance moan and in some cases talk absolute rubbish.I would never stop supporting the Club but reading and hearing some it makes you wonder if your on the same planet and wonder if my passion takes over from reality. The Rl and the match officials are ruining our game the latter being the worst bunch of incompetent, gutless officials to ever to blow a whistle.I can take losing but without doubt they do have a great bearing on the outcome of some games none of them referee to the same rules. This is spoiling the game and after almost every game the topic is the official and that cannot be right and the RL sit back and do nothing. I hope we got out and hammer Leeds on Friday and get to Wembley again and get the monkey of our back.

I honestly think that with the advent of social media those who wish to spout off, now have a much larger audience. As opposed to pre social media when it was simply the other sad lonely folks stood at the bar.
Social media has now created a society where we openly "hate" the opposition. We "hate " the opposition players. This causes tensions which is all a nonsense really, but is allowed to bubble away under the surface. (I am not implying this everybody, but I'm sure you understand where I am coming from)
The feelings that I see on social media towards certain players and teams is laughable. No longer is it possible to have a sensible discussion its all about abuse and who can shout the loudest.
This and all the rest of the nonsense we have to endure, rule changes, inept referees (Oh for a Lindop today) terrible TV commentary, even our local BBC radio station with its one eyed presenters. It all adds up to a general feeling of doom for some of the older supporters who have seen different eras.
That said it might just be the old gits harking back to a golden era that was in fact far from golden

Think most people are feeling the same Wilf,we never feel part of the KC like we did at the Boulevard. That was a proper community ground with a proper supporters club that you felt part of,the KC is just a big stadium with no feeling of home.We have no proper supporters club now so when you leave the ground thats it while the next game,no chance to go and meet fellow supporters and talk rugby. Its the one thing our friends across the river have that i envy,a community stadium with input from ex players and local business men.I like many others have been going for 50 odd years and it is the most fed up i have been, how many times do we bring good players through and they are sold for whatever reason, funny how the top clubs always seem to hang on to their stars. And as for the coaching,if i hear Radford say "our skill and execution is not good enough"one more time, i'll scream. He is the coach after all, maybe after all this time he should do what he said he was going to do and look in the mirror.Funny how the Cas coach never seems to have these problems.Thats it rant over and i can't see anything changing fast.

When your main TV sponsor keeps airing a fck1ng meaningless womans HOCKEY match than sooner put on the Super League match at it's allotted time.....THAT SUMS UP THE STATE OF OUR GAME AND IT'S POSITION OF IMPORTANCE.
