Mrs Barista wrote:Promises were giddy/daft, certainly. The last 10 games have been our best run in what, 2 years, maybe longer. Sounds like recruitment is progressing OK, and our halves are looking creative behind a solid pack. What's the point in supporting a club if you can't afford yourself a bit of enjoyment in a slightly better period? People often cite the "customer experience/entertainment factor" as a reason for not going, yet I find it hard to imagine investing hours of an evening on a Tesco-bashing forum. You'd just do something else if it made you so negative, surely, like go to Sainsburys? Crackers.

Under Peter Gentle with the known injury crisis we had:
2012, first 10 games of the season (so Gentles first 10 games with us), Won 7, drew 1, lost 2 (All SL games) conceded 162, scored 264
then our best run is 2013 1st April to 31st May Played 10 won 9, lost 1 (2CC games & a 28-20 loss at wigan) conceded 138, scored 306.

Compared with this run 2April to 30th May P10, won 8, lost 2, conceded 173 scored 260
So we've scored less, conceded more, down to a few scrappy wins and until a few weeks ago our fairly dismal attack but wins all the same.

At the moment Radford is still behind where PG was certainly in the win%, as I've said, if we don't make the 8 then I expect Radford to follow through with what he said & fall on his sword. If we make the 8 then we have to push on toward a top 6 finish as a minimum, if we don't then by definition Radford will have failed in his two seasons by comparison and with a pair of established 'fit' halves in the 2nd season. That wouldn't be a criticism, that would be the bare bone facts of it.

Let's hope we can push on and keep on improving, keep on winning.

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, what's an EBT?
Is it some sort of superannuation/investment scheme? If so why do the club have to pay it?

Don't see how you make that out.
Wigan were the benchmark - won nothing since Tomkins left
Warrington gone backwards (albeit in a period of transition)
Leeds ageing squad ,
Huddersfield & ourselves gone backwards.
the rest pretty much status quo

Yeah, thought it was a good run; obviously up there with our best of the last three seasons and in a stronger competition without the likes of London, Crusaders etc. Been enjoyable.

Employee Benefit Trust

In short, Hull FC paid into a trust for Manu, which only became payable once he'd finished playing. Its done for tax and salary cap purpose i suppose.

Except Hull FC, well, Uncle Kath, never put a bean in it. So the £200k needed to be found

He was right in the end

So another thing that Adam has had to sort out. This, allied to all the exaggerated deals of the Gentle/Mcrae era has obviously meant that he has had to spend money on matters that were not of his doing. Lets give the man some credit. Without him and his input we'd have been up sh*t creek without a paddle.

no they haven't , Id sat that's why the league is so competitive this season, because the top teams aint as good, and the super league in general as less quality players

But surely due diligence would have found out this BEFORE the club was purchased and AP was fully aware of the need to make these payments to Manu and any others who may have had this written into their contracts.
