this is not a ref bashing thread. 2 weeks ago on the tv games we had thaler, childs and silverwood. our game against saints had thommasaon who didnt have a great game. at magic weekend robert hicks did our game and once or twice got help from the video ref on some decisions and had the luxury of video try decisions, would it not help these less experienced officials if they did tv games where they can be helped by a video ref
I see the problem differently, I don't think there should be a video ref at all. Referee's are scared to give anything nowadays and it was great to see the kid that did our game against Widne/Salford (can't remember) ref the Cas v Wakey game with minimal fuss. Can't remember his name, mind.

I think Joe Cobb has some real potential, the few SL games I have seen him referee have been very good, likes to keep the game flowing and doesn't award stupid penalties.
Joe Cobb has been appointed full time match official. Great news as he is actually a decent referee from what I have seen, hopefully this is a turning point and more young referees will be making their way from the system.

Odd career move for a practising lawyer.
Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?
