The aim today was avoid the banana skin and get into the next round, they did that at a canter, always were in control and fans still moan,if it had been 80-0 the radford out brigade would still find something wrong ,Castleford got spanked by Widnes today a team who we also beat and were always in control and they have the best coach in SL ...so many tell us. Along with Warry,Giants,Widnes and Catalans they have lost the same amount of games we have. Take away the top three and the rest are all in the mix.

We are indeed in the mix, I have argued our case already in this thread. If we managed to get our attack firing then we could even push towards the top 4, never mind the 8, the league is that close.
The fact is that we are terrible with ball in hand, and until we sort that out we aren't going to be able to move forward. Unfortunately we seem incapable of improving. We beat a hugely inexperienced Saints team, ground it out against Widnes thanks to two interceptions, and were hugely uninspiring today by all accounts. We might have won three on the spin, but I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest we are improving. Radford simply isn't the man for the job.
Did we? Sa (though from what I've seen that's debatable) Sneyd, Ellis and Watts were the only ones not playing that should have been in the starting/strongest 17 by rights. Saints had 2 teenagers making debut, one of them 17. They had missing; Burns, Walsh, Lomax, Wilkin, Vea and Percival, possibly you could include Arm waver (Wellens) as he usually gets a bench spot. If you put the two strongest teams out there, Saints would win every single time.
We won but let's not kid ourselves, aside from the odd flashes of individual excellence we are disorganised in attack at best, luckily for us we have had a pretty good defence so far this year (& well done to the team/coach for that). Leeds/KR aside we've kept things tight but as mentioned upthread we aren't winning the tight games more than we are losing and just don't look capable of scoring against well organised defences that often unless a bit of luck comes our way. Sure 'lucky' tries apply to everyone but we are poor in attack compared to most other clubs. That said if we win every game until the end of the season then being poop in attack, relying on individual brilliance, 'lucky' tries & a good defence who am I to criticise?

rankin was too predictable, high kick to the winger everytime who made metres on each return
Shows how poor we really are then if we have to rely on going pretty much full strength to beat a team from a league lower than us. We should be able to beat them with half the first team and kids playing.

Like Salford did you mean?
Oh, hang on...

We go on about saints missing players yet we had three fullbacks ,three hookers and at one point had no props on the field against a saints pack which is seen by many as the best in SL. Again we see fans making excuses for the opposition because we won?? it it so hard to give our players any credit at all?I agree our offence is lacking and it must improve but fans forget we have no Sneyd and a full back at 7.I have said before when you have players like Pryce who has played with the best and coached by the best it would be wrong to think he has no say in the way we play ,if you think the coach of any club does not take on board ides from senior players who have done it bought the t shirt then you are mistaken. For some reason we are not firing and for me its not through lack of skill its players taking the wrong options. In defence we are well organised and do what we have to in offence we panic and there for me lies the problem. As for having a full strength side to beat Sheffield it shows how some make comments just to get at Radford..its getting boring

In fairness, we were missing two of our most creative players (Sneyd and Westy) and lost the last (Pryce) early on. Having Rankin, Sa and Yeaman as our pivots was never going to unleash a storm of exciting, creative play.
I do think that too much is being made of how poor/inexperienced Saints were. We were pretty much bare-bones ourselves. We beat Widnes fair and square - interceptions are part of the game and Lineham played for both of his.
We'll see next week whether we're improving or not. Frankly I'm just happy that we're winning games. I agree regarding Radford but I still hope he can turn things around because, frankly, we aren't going to get anyone else in place in time to make a difference to our season.

I disagree with your last point. I think we could bring someone in to work on our attack and improve pretty quickly. We're not far away from being very competitive in this league and a small improvement on attack would make all the difference

I was factoring in the intransigence shown by Pearson. I think it will take so long for him to make a move that anyone brought in would already be in an untenable position.
