It also seems the Airco Arena is not big enough to meet the PL requirements ... so it would be rejected on those grounds alone... it really does make you wonder why the Allams are pushing this through....

City forums showing a great deal of contempt towards the Allam family tonight.

None of the letters are marked private and confidential so I can't see any reason why they shouldn't be published.

WormInHand wrote:How, though?

Would an injunction be legal if Allam has not broken the terms of the lease? If he has (which from a cursory look at the section posted by Angus Young the other week looks likely) then the Council should be able to stop them without the need for an injunction, surely?

What are the options actually open to the council if the terms of the lease have been breached?

Someone (a rather splendid poster, imo, based admittedly on my fleeting visits over there when more than one of the words "Allam/stadium/Tigers/toffee apple/Hull FC" appear in the media in the same sentence) on 606 has partially answered this question tonight. With thanks to the bare man in the sand:

Obadiah wrote:The Council sent the letters to all Councillors I think. One of them may have leaked them to the press.

If the Council revoke the lease, the SMC would remain liable for the debts. A new rental agreement would have to be put in place between the Council and Hull City and Hull FC for continued use of the KC. The Airco would revert back to the Council who could then evict Hull City and put the amateur clubs back in. Hull City Tigers Limited and possibly Hull FC would have a claim against the SMC for any losses incurred by the breach of the lease.

One of the wonders of English company law. Ehab Allam wearing one hat can sue Ehab Allam wearing another hat. I hope that's clear.

I hope he doesn't mind me reproducing this - as Barham Red stated, it's a common foe we share. Also indicates the possible source of the letters obtained by Angus Young - any one of the Councillors who were (apparently) sent the letters? Have some doubts about this - is it plausible that all councillors would have received copies of the letters from both Allam and Stephenson?

International Chairman
IF and that is an unknown at this moment in time the council do not act to the fullest extent against the Allem's would that not make the council negligent themselves and/or possibly even unlawful for them not to act to protect the lease and its terms?

At this stage the letters from the council look on the face of it as if they are going to do something, to what extent who knows..but again IF they don't then it would be prudent to inform the Attorney General's Office of the failings of a LA in upholding/enforcing a legal document pertinent to the protection/betterment of the city/citizens under its control. It would certainly make the council more likely to sit up and act in the best interests of the masses even at the expense of taking the Allem's to court.

Absolutely terrible! .....A great facility that provided a place for many sports and many clubs within the community has now become a facility that will be used for a few hours a week all because the FA reigns supreme.

By the way, our silent East Hull oligarch has already payed off that loan from "Dr Allam" ......Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone!

I can confirm that councillors did indeed recieve a copy of the letters via e-mail, the e-mail WAS marked confidential, but I personally am happy that people are aware of what is really happening, I can assure people on here that the council has no intension of taking this lying down because remarks made earlier about future plans of the SMC may well come to pass if we just wave a white flag, I for one will be arguing that these facilities were not built for the exclusive use of Hull City AFC, but for the use of the people of Hull whatever their sport.
The reason I won't be a party to selling off the facilities is being born out now, what next padlocks on the gates, I remember Mr LLoyd all to well, yet his actions seem to have been forgotten because certain people think we are a backward council and should give him what he wants, the truth is Mr Allam does want to give a gift to the City, Hull City!

As noble rhetoric this is OK but let's be clear. Custodianship of public assets is your basic job and responsibility, including putting in place the right management arrangements and ensuring compliance. So spare us the emotive BS and act. Talk is cheap. The only substantive thing the council has done so far is not sell/gift him the stadium. Airco illustrates your loss of control and thus far lack of appetite to do what's right rather than what's easy. As Delia would say "Where are you? Let's be having you."

A totally over the top and innapropriate response to a councillor who's making positive noises about not taking this lieing down. You should be ashamed of yourself
