We didn't let him go, He ran his contract down and if rumours are to believed you offered him a lot more money, we had a cap to work in and he didn't fit in. As has been alluded to by your chairman some of the contracts offered at the time by Mr McRae where very favourable to the players and I assume Mickey was one who benefitted from this (not saying this was bad business btw).
Lynch on the other hand had 2 years left to run and lost the captaincy and then left with a year to go for nothing. It looked from the outside as if he was being edged out. We would have resigned Paea I would have thought if we could have matched your wage deal
