I was at the match on the other side of the tunnel from where the bottles were thrown. Bulldog supporters near me were more angry about the Graham charge down penalty than the 8 point try incident. When a penalty for the charge down incident was given on the 10 metre line in front of the posts instead of where the attempted kick finished some tempers reached boiling point. Most believed a penalty was not warranted as the contact was "accidental and not deliberate".

Nobody in the crowd knew the rule about what happens when a foul occurs on a player attempting field goal. It turns out that none of the commentators covering the match on TV knew the rule either.
