The first time I saw Paul King, Cooke, Horne and Yeaman in the first time I saw star potential but the current crop haven't made a splash. Lancaster to be fair looks a natural finisher, but the rest who've broken through in recent years like Abdul, Green and Bowden are just average plodders.
Green & Bowden were before Pearsons time. If you think Abdull is just a plodder then you don't seem to have seen much of him.

Adbull has put on too much timber and is languishing in the 19s, that's why he looked off the boil in his only game. That Radford (& many on here) want him as a lock just speaks volumes about how our talent is being brought through..or rather it isn't, for all the plaudits Radford got he's really only played the youngsters as a last resort same as last year. If I were in JAs shoes I would be offering myself to other clubs as soon as is possible because he's not going to get anywhere near a starting spot for at least 1.5 seasons and by that time Radford, Last et al will have knackered whatever potential he has. That's not to mention why would you want to play for a club that is on the verge of imploding and going no-where fast.

Who do you all want to replace him? Who would want to come? Kear wins a cup and gets the bullet. Sharp and Gentle get us to finals and get the bullet. Under Agar and Radford we play dull rugby and finish lower in the league but they get longer in the job. I just don't get it!
Life at work is like a tree full of monkeys; all on different branches, different levels. Some monkeys are climbing up, some down. The monkeys on top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkey's on the bottom look up and see nothing but arseholes

What an absolute load of BS. It doesn't even warrant intelligent reply. Abdull's a 13 all day long.

Green & Bowden may well have been at the club longer than Pearson, but we continue to play them despite them not standing out and not progressing. Bowden was a penalty machine last night. And Abdull looks well overweight for a half-back.

Different expectations back in the Kear/Sharp days, we were a top4 side looking to win more trophies. Kear fell out with Hetherington, and our league form was inconsistent given the quality of the players we had available. Sharp never recovered from Cooke leaving and then had the worst injury crisis we've had in the SL era in 2008.
Agar & Radford are/were cheap options, but Pearson's learnt the Hetherington trick of cutting costs because the fans will turn up and watch any old dross anyway.

not sure on Bowden's penalty count without watching the game back on TV (and frankly i'd rather cut my balls off with a rusty razor blade!) but he's still completely ineffective.
and if Abdul isn't a half-back why do we play him there in the first team? he's also listed as a stand-off on the club website.

He's a 13. The reason his first team appearances have been in the halves is because he wouldn't last in the middle atm. He plays 13 in the 19's.
