The second half last night was a shining example of how tactically we don't have it right at all.
We were lacking depth in the forwards, so what do we do.....use our forwards all the time to run back into the ruck! we were not dominating in the forwards, the play the ball was slow and we were going back into the ruck and getting put on our backs - no wonder they were 5hagged and getting cut open to bits.
Second Half we needed to up the intensity - keep meeting them in defence (something we didn't do once in the 2nd half) and withstand an early assault from Leeds - if we had done that, they would have played panic rugby like they did at times in the first half.
The kicking game was shocking in the 2nd half too - if we were tired, Sneyd should have been kicking into touch. Hardaker was so deep at times that a chip over every so often would make him stand closer to his defensive line by another 15-20m which then makes it easier to kick that ball over him so he has to turn.
Kick offs - shocking! The only way we mixed it up is by changing the side we kicked to. Abdulls kick off was the best one - the short kick off. But I never understand why we don't mix it up more, fire it hard and low towards the touchlines and get the second rowers having to bend their backs, or using their football skills to trap the ball.
We need to be more imaginative with every facet of the game. Mentally, the opposition don't tire as they know what we will do. If we mix things up a bit, they always have to be switched on as we could change the way we play at any moment.
