Was worried about our discipline in the friendlies as it seemed poor. However we've conceded the least penalties and made the fewest errors of any team over the first two rounds. With arguably limited firepower in the back line compared to the likes of Leeds and Warrington, continuing this high completion and good discipline is vital. Tackle success is reasonable too. Good start.

Very impressed up to now with the performances of each player. Definitely got some standouts already like Mini, and judging by his debut performance, Michaels. His speed is phenomenal and if we can get him in space, we can utilize that so well. Salford I expect will be a big test as I don't think Salford will go down easily in this one with Koukash bringing in Tim Sheens to oversee the coaching staff, but I am looking forward to it and hopefully our errors and penalty counts will stay fairly low.

I reckon Michaels could win us a few penalties of our own due to his speed..

It is really impressive so far & if we can keep this up then that in itself puts pressure on the opposition to play as 'clean' if the ref is playing with a straight bat. If there's a disparity between the two teams you'd hope the ref would be picking up on the team niggling/pushing the boundaries more. The problem with that is the inconsistency of the officials, what seemingly gets pinged one game isn't the next or a third/half of the way through the season more focus on X and less on Y. Personally I think the refereeing is far too lax especially with offsides at the scrum & goal line defences not to mention the inordinate amount of back chat, that infuriates me.

Defensively it's always uplifting to keep good teams out especially if they've had a couple of sets but we have to be mindful of how draining that can be, not being in that situation at all is best obviously but looking at who is out on their feet in the forwards & maybe bringing a second no.9 on instead might be more beneficial than a prop whom is almost rooted to the spot because he is so knackered.

I think the early positive to take is that we've been in a lot of close games in the last two seasons but the lack of direction in the halves and errors/pens have done for us. If we continue to build on our defensive strength and keep the errors/pens low, hopefully our improved halves can get make the difference. On winning penalties, we do miss Tom Briscoe's ability here.

What is more impressive is that the discipline has remained despite the length of time the ball was in play against Warrington - there wasn't a lot of rest periods but the players fitness meant they didn't have to lay on for longer to rest, and were still getting back the 10 metres

I'm taking it that you watched Super League Full Time? They was full of praise for us and I believe it was mentioned that our game was the most disciplined game up to now with the ball in play for the longest amount of time which was something like 60 minutes. Lets hope we can keep that up!
