Nah, rather lose by a point than loads. Considering we were missing a few & Shaul getting that knock it could have been a different result. It'll still give us a bit of encouragement going into the Salford game..

We've played worse than that and won. We went from playing too much rugby to completely flat, but that's not a big surprise with us having a new 6 and 7.

Obviously I can't comment on it, but even Lee Richardson thought it was ok, which tells you a lot.
We really need to do better in attack, but there's more positives than negatives. The defence seems to be top notch. One try conceded in two games against two top sides is outstanding, and who knows what the outcome would have been had Shaul been in any state to attempt a tackle? We also showed that we can compete physically against a good team without Ellis. Put Ellis, Sa and Talanoa in that team and I reckon we win (Shaul is also a big blow but probably cancelled out by Ratchford). Completion rate seemed very good again and not many penalties.
Listening to the game it seemed like all we needed to do was be patient in our attacking sets. We seemed to be ending every set with a high cross field kick when we should have been looking for repeat sets and turning the screw. Even a good side like that will break eventually.

Let's put it this way - how many times can you remember offside being given for a kick ahead at a non-televised game? Oh well. Still a good performance with the missing players and Shaul going off.

Decent performance given the injuries this week (most notably Ellis who is such a big player for us) but still a lot of concerns in attack for me, we still look no better on our last play options and we were guilty of panicking too early on when we were only 7 and then 1 points behind with plenty of time still left on the clock.

Pretty good display from Hull tonight especially given the players out. Plenty of positives to be taken and further signs of improvements on last season.
