Thank you for your suggestion that we move the Carol Concert to Summer. This has been carefully considered by H&S but carries an unacceptable level of risks. Clearly heatstroke and dehydration would be almost inevitable. Persons singing further run the risk of throat damage, asthmatic attack etc due to soft tissue inflammation caused by high pollen count. This is even without factoring in the threat posed by the sun, which may well be both present and at a dangerously low elevation (skin cancer, blindness etc etc). Then there is the risk of food poisoning if the canapes go off in the warmth. Our insurers would never cover this, even if we were so foolhardy as to expose wassailers to these risks.
