He made the offer publically. Could have been a bluff, but nobody was willing to call it.

He says a lot of things publicly. Pretty few of them with any consistency other than inconsistency. When called out on their ridiculous basis he says he was being sarcastic/just kidding. Can't expect the council to respond every time he makes some extravagant claim in the press. Given the previous on "gifts" to the city (actually retail parks requiring a donated £50m asset for mortgage purposes), and statements on moving immediately to Melton (err...), investing council resources in feasibility studies of stuff that is highly unlikely to have any foundation would be frivolous in an era of austerity.

Dude is a wee bit irascable, I wouldn't deny it.
But the opportunity was there for somebody to chuck their hat in the ring. Maybe AP would like to run the smc, but are you as confident as L&I of that?

I am no Allam fan but those loans were left over from the Bartlett era when he took out loans against the leasehold of the stadium.

Then they should take up his offer and charge the Tigers to advertise above the toilets (quite apt i know) and for all the photos of City he has had put up!

It could be fun, if some local amateur club registered themselves as ‘hull tigers’ :D

I recall AP saying at a fans forum that when he ran the SMC it never made a loss but since he ceased to be Chairman it has never made a profit. I don't know if its true, but he was clearly referring to Bartlett and Allam.

Slightly OT but Allam's comments regarding the Labour Party and trade unions once again show a staggering ignorance of history and tradition. In his world bluster, bullying and money trump all that's gone before.

And yet they didn't. My impression fwiw was that they had a more conciliatory attitude around the Whiteley-gate stuff after the offer/threat was made.

The profits and losses reported will be accurate, but there's more to accountancy than just arithmetic.
Plus the stadium was younger then. How much was the new pitch? I can't recall exactly, but it was a few Mark Sneyds wasn't it?
