There is certainly one: "Where is Madeleine?" But what others did you have in mind?

You're in danger of full-blown batshit-looniness yourself it seems. Or why would you even hint that the McCanns disposed of their own daughter, after some media coaching, so they could make a few bob?

Over £2m donated for the search appeal is dealt with through a company which publishes accounts so I would be very careful about making accusations of financial misfeasance if I were you. Unless you want to add to the fund yourself to go along with the numerous libel damages awards to the McCanns and their group of friends, who have paid the several awards of libel damages they have received into this fund, not into their trousers.

King Street Cat wrote:Out of the multitude of abductions/disappearances/murders that take place on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis, why is this case the one that has stuck?

I worry that the implied answer to your loaded question is equally nuts, but as you don't spell out your own answer it isn't worth commenting.

But "one"? Your rhetorical question shows a disturbing zero knowledge of missing children, even in this country.

There are 48 for a start.

I don't have any answers to what happened, only the perpetrator can answer that question, whoever they may be. For as long as Maddie is missing, everyone involved is a suspect whether people like it or not, and while ever the media use the case to fill column inches and create a media circus the nation will all jump to their own conclusions.

You'll be telling the Daily Star to stop running Diana stories next.

Unfortunately gossip fills column inches and sells printed media, we've created our own monster in the modern day press.

Seeing as you seem fairly interested in the case can't you give us your own personal opinion whom the perpetrator (s) may be?
Go on, take a stab in the dark?

Colonel Mustard, in the scullery...

sorry, I thought this was a Cluedo thread.

I doubt we'll ever know what went on.

A chance abduction or a bungled burglary seem to be the popular theories but the lack of solid evidence and reliable witnesses coupled with the case being no further on than it was on the day it happened almost make it a perfect crime. Also, why would a burglar decide to turn it into an abduction?

My guess is someone saw the note left by the McCanns/hotel staff earlier on in the week and had time to plan it all. Who this was will probably be an eternal mystery.

It's as valid a theory as some of the others that are out there.

Could have been an Iberian wolf, down from the north, holidaying in the Algarve?

Looks like the hunter has become the prey amongst the online retardio.
