I guess the point is that the current format is ridiculous. Aside from the fact that the 8th place team have generally lost half their games, the week one 1v4 2v3 fixtures can quite easily be repeated in week three. Cas and Huddersfield knew that even by losing they can still make the Grand Final (as with Warrington v Saints in 2012 or Wigan v Leeds in 2010).
