I think this performance probably summed up our season. When we're good we can be great but when we're bad we're woeful.

When we start playing with speed, get the forwards running onto the ball and then begin to move it out wide we look unstoppable at times. I thought Koppy again showed real sings of getting back to last seasons form and that Mullally had a another good game.

But then we just switch off, miss tackles, buy the most obvious of dummies, allow easy off-loads (usually just as half the team don't play to the refs call and have turned their back on the ball to get back the their mark), try and score off every play...well, I could go on.

Danny tried his best to give me a heart attack at the end - 6 points ahead and two really risky passes that could easily have been intercepted, again trying to score off every play instead of securing the game with the 'ball up the jumper' tactics.

yep over playing instead of putting in the hard graft which would give the teams its rewards in the end.. completing sets etc but we seem to say this every week and still not sorted.. do they not listen to anderson?!

i think lunt and patrick are poor in defence, can sometimes get found out.

connor scores tries Grix couldnt, but they are different players, both have good and bad points...at this stage of his career though connor can fix his

I thought Lunt in particular looked poor yesterday - I didn't think he looked fit from the start and he was definitely limping at the end of the game. His tackling seemed poor, his movement in defence was slow and I thought Fiaumu (great to see those side-steps yesterday!) actually speeded up our play the ball when he came on. He just seemed a yard off the pace for most of the game.

Agree with most of what has been said about Grix and Connor. Grix is unquestionably our number 1 full back and that will allow Connor time to work on those areas of his game that need improving (adding to what has already been said, his concentration at the start of games seems quite poor) to allow him to take the jersey when the time is right. Personally, I'm not sure I see Connor as a Centre, I still think he'll make an outstanding full back.

This season

Lunt 389 tackles 27 misses 93.5% success rate
Patrick 357 tackles 21 misses 94.4% success rate

certainly not poor and in line with

Ferres 443 tackles 31 misses 93.4% success rate

More of a worry
Wardle 380 tackles 54 misses 87.5% success rate

still short of this outstanding effort

Lawrence 708 tackles 20 misses 97.3% success rate.

i would say though anything over 90% is decent and certainly all the Giants forwards are oprerating above this level.

lunt is not match fit, cant really be when he had so much time off injured with the calf, he couldnt even run for weeks! mind you he didnt do too bad at warrington week before so we know what he can do.. if in the mood?

as for the missed tackles stats.. they dont always tell the true story.. what about when there is gaps in the line for the oppo to go through, is this classed as a missed tackle? when i see lunt, patrick and robinson (though robbo certainly puts his stint in for his size) on the field i worry in defence..especially if lawrence is on the bench too!

know all about wardle and his missed tackles, looks good when he fires out of the line and hits them but still misses too many

Lunt actually ran from dummy half a couple of times- and did well doing so- he doesn't do it enough for me.

If someone runs through a gap without a hand placed on him it is not a missed tackle but poor defencive line. However I am not sure why you call Lunt and Patrick for this. I would consider both decent defenders.
