I love jake Connor- his vision going forward is good. His personal defence is ok.he is certainly a star for the future. But boy does our defensive line look better with grix.

well that was quite an entertaining game! never really put the game to bed, though if brough kicked a few more of his goal attempts it would have.
good to have a close game, will help when we come to the playoff games.
thought there was some cracking performances, murphy solid as a rock, mullally, broughton deserves some credit today too, some great finishing from him.
faiumu had a great impact when he came on from the bench in the first half!
mcgillvary awesome yet again.
we seemed to take quite a few knocks today, hope they come though, crabtree, robbinson, lunt all struggling at the end.
enjoyed the game but we will have to cut out some of the lapses we saw today.
roll on next friday! win and we are in top 4, lose and its 5th
Back to the old problem of trying to score off every play and forcing the pass. Also poor last tackle options. Better second half when the forwards got on top. Definately deserved to win and fitness showed at end of both halves. Real mixed bag from Connor. Scored two great tries but also gifted two to Hull.
Thought we were average today...defence was appaling again 4 soft tries conceded, 2 where there wasn't even an attempted tackle. attack was frustrating as we resorted to trying to score off every set again and end up looking stupid ..just take the bleeding tackle !! Saying that we did well to come back and win in like we did and never give up. Connor and Jerry were superb in attack although Jake's defensive lapses cost us but he will learn from these and get better over time by making them now and learning but jesus christ what a talent he is for us !!
Mullers and Fooey both made huge differences when they came on but i was a little disappointed with the big guns, Robbo, Brough and Lunty were average for me today although the kicking game was decent at times.
Brough was not great with ball in hand but his kicking was good and helped to make hull start each set from deep in their half. Connor for me will make a great centre. As a full back at the moment he is similar to Eden great in attack poor in defence.

well another game undefeated and another win when we weren't at our best, i thought hull were pretty good in the first half an hour and our defence was poor, they strolled in for 4 fairly easy tries with not much claret and gold hands on them. once we started playing we took control though and was pretty comfortable for the 2nd half, had broughy had his kicking boots on we would have won by 20 points, which i think would have flattered us TBH.
but we showed great resilience to come back from 18-4 down and thats a good sign, but we need to up our defensive work, our line speed was very slow at times letting houghton and rankin run things for a good half an hour. pleased with the win though the performance wasn't great.. but performances don't matter now, from now on wins are what matters are we have shown we can win games when we aren't at our best!
the Claret And Gold Machine is ready to roll

I'm surprised you're the only one (so far!) to commend Broughton for his performance, Brearley. As with the Leeds (h) and Magic Weekend games, he has scored tries from opportunities our other wingers may well have struggled to convert. Jerry and Murphy are a different breed of winger and perform the task of taking the ball up admirably. Broughton isn't particularly well suited to that; his forte is his pace which I think the team is using to better effect. Today he evaded Lineham - no slouch himself - in very limited space to score a belting try. He also showed determination to score his other try.
Connor has plenty to learn on his defence - a solid tackler but needs to work on his positioning. Given his age and lack of experience he should be able to rectify it. We were caught out by kicks on 4 occasions today but it would be wrong to lay the blame solely at Connor's feet. Robinson has acted as a sweeper when kicks are directed away from the fullback and wingers frequently provide cover for fullbacks - as Lineham did when Shaul took a knock. Connor may need to be more vocal in calling for help, but the senior players should share the responsibility - particularly given Connor's inexperience.
Where he belies his years, however, is in attack. What a joy it is to see a fullback joining the line, linking up effectively with the half back, finding the gaps and scoring tries. A real talent.

Up until today I would have disagreed with this but like you said, it is very clear he has some way to come before being a completed player but he is definitely a star for the future! I think Grix and Connor could learn something from eachother! Grix could offer expertise in positioning and passing and Connor could reach Grix something about catching (although he dropped one today) and attacking the line (which is mind blowing from Jake at times)
