Does that bring him to the end of his Chelsea contract? - If so, that is one of hell of a hit that Chelsea will be taking on the whole Torres saga, though I'm sure there will be a lot more to this loan contract than a simple getting him off the playing roster.
I'd imagine there will be a loan fee involved (I've read £4m a season somewhere??) and also a decent cut of his salary, but, overall, its all been a bit of a disaster for both player and club.
Also, can you see Jose making a late dart in the transfer market for a striker now Torres is going and Costa is rumoured to be far from 100% fitness wise?
And so you aim towards the sky, And you'll rise high today, Fly away, Far away, Far from pain....

Yes, he has two years of his contract remaining so this will take him to the end of it.
Most of our loans have seen us earn a fee and had most/all of the wages paid. I think with Torres it is completely the opposite. I think we'll probably be paying most of his wages and there's no fee whatsoever.
We also loaned out Bamford today to Boro and he's a young striker.
A new striker is pretty much essential for us. Costa is our main man and all important but we can't go into the new season with Costa and the 36 year old Drogba.
I'm almost certain we won't be buying British, so that will still leave us with needing to get rid of one foreign player from our squad. I've got a feeling that might be Cech.

Danny Welbeck fits the bill on both counts......

Man City lose at home to Stoke. Wonderful goal by Stoke but very poor from the two City defenders and the keeper.
Think that Toure should have had a pen, not the booking that he received. I definitely think that Toure bought the pen because he was going nowhere, but the Stoke player stuck his boot in high and that's a pen for me.
Stoke did have an earlier claim, but that was much more of a "seen them given, but most of the time they aren't" variety.
Have Man City always come up with "Cityzens" marketing? Zak Hardaker would say that it's effing gay and I agree with him. Lame.
Have you ever seen defending worse than that from Everton today? Chelsea scored 6 today, but they never really did that much, as daft as it sounds. They could play far better than they did today and yet they scored 6. Both Costa's goals were farcical from a defending point of view, as were Coleman's and Matic's. Chelsea had 38% possession to score those 6 goals, imagine the tally if they had more of the ball?
Jagielka cops the majority of the blame, I'd love to know what's gone wrong there. He's gone from a stalwart of the formidable EFC backline, and an automatic pick for England to being a complete calamity. I don't think he passed the ball to an Everton player at all today, gifting Costa two glorious chances and costing Everton for quite a few of the goals.
Everton's attack was fine. Coleman, oggy aside, was oustanding again and Everton's goals were very good, particularly Naismith's. Big Sam Eto'o had a fantastic 30 minutes, scoring 1 and creating several very good chances. Impressed with him.
Some bizarre officiating again today. Ivanovic's goal was offside and live at the ground looked ridiculous. Howard's catching the ball a metre outside the box was also a head scratcher.
Footballers these days eh? Joe Allen is obviously Suarez's replacement as Liverpool's chief diver. Going down like that should earn him a yellow, despite the fact that there was a pull on him. It's something they really need to cut out of the game.
Another thing annoying me is why Premier League players who do get fouled acting like it hurts so much, and continuing the pretence of an injury on for minutes afterwards. Koscieleny for Arsenal took a bang on the noggin in today's game. Checked by the docs and medical staff and passed as fine to play on. Despite having no symptoms of concussion, the player asks to be brought off just in case. Where have all the men gone? If he'd done that 20 years ago, he'd have been injured by his manager. And for that, he'll get paid £50,000+ this week.

The doctors may have said that Koscieleny didn't have concussion, but that doesn't mean they're qualified to judge whether he feels like utter **** and isn't able to carry on playing at the required standard.

Louis van Gaal manages like I do on championship manager. Just buy everyone because eventually you will stumble on a starting 11 that works. Or in its simplest term "throw enough s*** at a wall and some of it will stick".
