GL is a shocking commentator full stop and should be binned, unless your interested in playrr hairstyles then youll be fully up to date. The rest are ok and the coverage pretty good.
I'm not paranoid, I based my opinion from listening to radio humberside. For me Lloyd should never be let loose on a microphone as he is an awful commentator and how an earth he has got the position of RL director is a mystery. As for Pinkney & Richardson they both have displayed a lack of class for me by at times being quite insulting and patronising to the fans of Hull FC.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

We can fully agree on Lloyd he is shocking, the other two and Doc always seem ok to me, yes they have criticised FC but is it unfair criticism and anything the majority of your fans agree with.
Humberside is far from perfect but for RL it's far better than 90% of other media outlets.
I think if the fans of RL got their way, going by the criticism both RH and SKY get there would be no coverage at all.
Its not the criticism of the team as such that's a problem - some though it is uncomfortable to hear it is not inaccurate. What is the problem is that the 2 teams are held to a different standard. I have yet to see the dobbins over ambitious claims for the coming seasons to be questioned and ridiculed in the the same way that those made by the Hull club are. And there there are plenty of such statements made by the dobbins as Mrs B's archive shows. Hudgell, when he appears on RH, never gets anything less than a thorough brown nosing off Gollum. Murdock going will only make it worse and if that fat turd GML get's a job well that's the final straw.
This is a real shame. Partly because of the Rovers bias of those left behind, but mainly because of their ability as broadcasters. It's actually very difficult to articulate what you're seeing in a manner that makes it easy for people at home listening on the radio to understand. People like Mike Ingham and Connor McNamara at Five Live are absolutely wonderful, right at the top of their game, and actually I prefer listening to their commentary on the radio than most of the television stuff.
Lloyd is a dreadful, dreadful broadcaster. I cannot believe he's been doing it for as long as he has. My favourite bit is when we're three minutes away from the top of the hour and he tries to fill up to the news by reading out the e-mail addys and phone numbers over again, and trying to remember what's coming up in the next hour. It's a real life version of Alan Partridge's "ha ha ha, ha ha ha, funny story, ha ha ha. ha. ha. News."
Murdoch was able to articulate his opinions and what was happening out on the field far better than any of the others and will be missed.

As I said on my previous post the manner in which our club make the claims and more to the point the way the fan base take those claims is vastly different. The bel13ve and keep the faith promotions for instance really set you up, add to that the 'seemingly' swallowing of this year upon year by the fan base really magnify the claims.
Honestly before a ball was kicked this season most KR fans would have set expectations at 6-8, not many would have thought more. The view I get is every year FC expect top 4. Now there's nothing wrong with high expectations but it almost seems a god given right for some fans, and as such expect some flack when it doesn't come off. Mike Smith has harped on about top 4, best pack etc but guess as fans we don't swallow it. Maybe that's the difference.
The Newcastle similarities mentioned on another thread are pretty accurate, big crowd, proud fans, owner with no real clue about the game. Unfortunately until you set realistic goals for yourselves you'll end up being the fat Geordie with no shirt sat crying in the stands come end of the season every year.
That might of been a bit harsh and your expectations should be a lot better than what you're been served up but I think you'll get my drift.
Just to add this isn't a KR FC thing as I'll fully agree with anyone who says we're just slightly less crap than you, I'd love us at 1 and you at 2 but that seems a long way off.
It really isn't much to do with fans expectations, there are plenty of Hull fans who were expecting the worst before the season started. I'll agree there has been a slight difference of emphasis on the way the clubs talk themselves up pre season but neither has said they are aiming for 6th, Yes Hull have made the slightly grander claims but then again they haven't indulged in the siege mentality everyone is conspiring against us position that has characterised a lot of the KR output (which granted may now diminish now that the principal whiner has gone). Either way there is plenty of material for a local radio station to feed on and comment in a negative manner if they so wish; unfortunately they choose to do that in a distinctly one sided manner.

Anyway back to Craig Murdock, its a shame he has gone but I can fully understand the BBC's position, he can't pass opinion under the BBC umbrella on players he has a financial interest in. I just hope they get in a Hull FC man in to replace him but I fear we will end up with Lloyd and Richardson, good job I have a pass and go to most games. I don't generally listen to Rover's but I don't think they have replaced Chris Park yet have they, doesn't bode well for them having budget to replace Dock.

In terms of commentary quality, Murdock was the only one who provided an articulation of what actually went on and could accurately name the players. In terms of tone, he was the only one with anything other than a dreary, dismal outlook. In terms of balance, RH now have 2 former Rovers players, led by a producer who freely confesses to regularly calling a Hudgell at home of an evening. So cosy. Little wonder they were spinning Chester as "tailor made" for the coaching job and talking about the Leeds game as a chance for him to " maintain his 100% record" on Friday. After one fecking game. Just wow. Matt Dean is totally out of his depth as Sports Editor if he chooses to fail to address the above.
I think there is a difference between an ex player commenting on your team to having a financial interest in individuals you are passing comment on though. I can understand the Beeb not being happy with that.
