Fair to say they blew away the naysayers. As a big fan I've not seen them enjoy a gig so much for many years. Rolled out all the classics as would be expected, and performed brilliantly - but then their talent has never been in doubt. Fade to Black was outstanding, and the balls in the crowd was a nice party trick. Hetfield was on great form - they all were, though Lars needs to calm down at times.
Wondered how they'd address the ridiculous 'bear hunt' petition and did it in typical 'tallica style. Also laughed at the Metallica Glastonbury t-shirt bearing some of the more scathing quotes from media and social media when they were announced as headliners. A not-so-subtle 'f*ck you'.
Not been to Glastonbury for quite a few years now and not sure I'll bother again. Due to family connections we always had 'resident' passes which allowed us behind the scenes - not into the backstage area but most of the private tents and other areas. It also meant we didn't have to camp. Unfortunately our local contact has moved away and not sure I can be bothered with it all - though we'll probably take my daughter when she's old enough.
