Thats correct mate, game was abandoned on 54 mins with us leading 12-4. The reason as to why it was abandoned, well pass. It was obvious that the ref didnt want to be there, he made that clear too. There was 3 sin binngs in the game, 1 was was being offside, another 2 holding down (After both teams recieved "Team Warnings" for similiar offences)
A few high tackles and hadbags/crossed words was as bad as it got. After a penatly was given around the 50min he called both teams together and the ref said the next time there is another incident he will call the game off after telling us this is the worst standard of rugby he has ever reffed. Both sets of lads was baffled by it, laughing between ourselves saying its only banter its ametuer rugby league it happens.
Few mins later after a push after the play the ball he blew up and walked off! few players went to approach him to try get him to carry on but it was clear he was off and was in the changing rooms by the time players shaked hands.
Anyway he made his mind up, and even though it was a very aggresive game none of that spilled to punches thrown and was pleased that even when he ended the game the ref was showed respect, and that was the same throughout the game obviously you get the generic "how's that a knock-on" etc. but that was as far as it went. If we go off that game on Sat 60% of games would be called off.
The ref came into both sets of changing rooms after game, there was banter thrown about him walking off and we all laughed it off and he was happy to inform us he should of been reffing York instead of being stuck with us anyway.
I take it the game will be replayed now, or will they make the return fixture a 4 pointer? anyone have any ideas what will happen.
