Punishment Should Fit the Crime
I’ll start by nailing my colours well and truly to the mast, I’ve never really liked the on-report system. For me it is an easy cop-out for the weak referee; punishes the player after the event rather than benefitting the team offended against; and is a wholly unsatisfactory way to deal with incidents which incense supporters, rile players, and potentially effect results.

It is time we had a re-think and encouraged our referees to be empowered on the pitch and make the decisions to punish the offender’s on-the-spot ensuring that their team pays the penalty for their indiscretions.

Why not a simpler idea , if a caution is applied by the review panel the players team loses one point & if a ban is imposed league points to be deducted as follows ,1 game ban 2 points & 1 further point for each other game ban imposed per player. But then every game would need to be scrutinised by the panel. This would then encourage clubs & coaches to clean up their acts. Any points deducted during end of season play offs could be carried over to the following season.

How about the review panel reviewing the officials performance and not the the players. This should encourage the officials to make decisions and stop hiding behind the Report system and Review Panel.

couldn't agree more - Jon sharp has said that Steve Ganson was not wrong to enter the dressing room at half time - why wasn't a rep there from both clubs, to me this is a cop out from someone who hasn't probably seen the full game- with out doubt the game was refereed differently in the 2nd half to the 1st. If Mr Robys performance was reviewed by a unconnected panel - then maybe he would be suspended /stood down for a couple of weeks. Not all fans will agree with my point but even some Saints fans were looking perplexed??? as to why some of the penalties were given.

Ps makes a change for fans from all clubs agreeing on one thing - officials and the disciplinary committee are making a mockery of our great game.
