Don't worry, I didn't even realise that was still my avatar - been like that for years, and as I use the mobile version of the site I never see it!
Oasis aren't my fave band, far from it, I just find it weird how people compare a band like the Roses who are still living off 1 album that wasn't really that successful at the time (only got to #19 on the album chart), to a band that ( despite some of the poorer latter efforts ) sold massive quantities of 7 albums!

This one time, I was in Milan, I went to a trattoria. Inside there were about 5 tables. I asked what the waitress recommended, she said the lasagne. It was the single best lasagne I have ever eaten in my life. Nothing has ever come close. I asked how many they sold a day. They baked one large dish a day.
Not really the same though is it. And if you like microwave lasagne then thats what you are gonna pick if you have never been to the restaurant in Milan. Just cos you say its the best lasagne you've ever, doesn't make it so for everyone else does it! That is what opinion is all about.
The Roses had 1 album that only came to the mainstream after bands like Oasis came to the forefront of music and said the Roses were the best Manchester band ever - and everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
Oasis had 3 great albums (and 4 dross ones) compared to 1 from the Roses.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging the Roses in anyway as that album is superb and I still have my original copy from when it came out - but if you are comparing success no matter your opinion of the bands, then there is no comparison!

Well, yes, it is entirely the same. By your reckoning One Direction will go on to be than Oasis.

Burst into heaven Kissing the cotton clouds Arctic sheets and fields of wheat I can't stop coming down Your shrunken head Looking down on me above Send me home like an elephant stone

And they are and they will be. One Direction cracked America - Oasis never did. Plenty of other UK pop/boybands have tried but never done what One Direction have done since The Beatles.
