Can you like the Stone Roses without liking the Rolling Stones.
Of all the bands given the tile of the new Stones through the years they came the closest for a while IMHO. They reminded me very much of the Brain Jones version of the Stones when they experimented with the likes of Paint it black culminating with Sympathy for the Devil. Before Keith locked them into a straight R&B/R&R - thus making them more or less a performance band only - that's not to say what followed was bad it wasn't but it was never ever groundbreaking again.
Shame the Roses didn't move on as it would have been nice to see what came next.
The Rolling Stones The Who The Kinks The Jam The Clash Tears For Fears Depeche Mode The Human League The Cult T Rex Joy Division New Order The Smiths The Stone Roses James Blur Ocean Colour Scene Nirvana Oasis The Verve REM QOTSA Arcade Fire The Strokes Kings Of Leon Pulp Radiohead Manics Elbow Foo Fighters The Libertines Stereophonics The Charlatans The Coral Cast Happy Mondays Pink Floyd Echo and The Bunnymen Interpol Talking Heads
Check out Canadian psychobilly band "The Creepshow." Catchy and bizarre in equal measures. A mix between The Meteors (but with more talent) and Rancid but with a far better looking lead singer. Try starting with "Zombies ate her brain."

Has anyone hear heard anything of the band Propagandhi. Obviously haven't heard every band out there by any stretch of the imagination but, in my opinion, they are one of the most important and best bands around today.
Other bands I like are;
A Wilhelm Scream The Dead Kennedys Pre Warning era Green Day Bad Religion Rentokill [austrian punk band] Milloy [from Wakefield] Streetlight Manifesto Apologies I Have None Rise Against Polar Bear Club Mallory Knox The Story So Far Finch The Lawrence Arms Billy Talent Strike Anywhere Smoke Or Fire The Swellers The Bronx
