Winter migrants are arriving. Saw alot in Devon. Locally in Herts we're getting migrants passing through, as we are nationally.
The dark head you mentioned is part of the winter plumage.
Its a Facebook account for a person who collects old images of Leeds and as you can see from reading his text he has recently been handed a sequence of aerial photographs that were taken by the RAF from nose-mounted cameras on Canberra aircraft in 1951 during a project to photograph the whole of Britain in celebration of the Queens Coronation of that year.
The more you explore those photos (and he is posting more in weeks to come) the more amazed you'll be at the very fine detail, but despite their historical importance ONLY the photos of Leeds and Bradford survive, the rest of the country's images having been destroyed as "unwanted" when the RAF declassified them and couldn't find an institute who wanted them.
