Yup. Same here.

It's hardly as though we have an overload of passion in Parliamentary politics.

I am passionate in thinking that gay marriage is not right but that apparently makes me a homophobe. By the same token this guy must be anti-semitic? After all he apparently referred to "the Jews" (maybe as a derogatory term, who knows?) rather than the sovereign state of Israel.

Some back bench Tories are very passionate on a number of subjects but you would be up in arms if they said something you disagreed with!

Quite possibly. The same could be said of MPs from all parties.

The point is only valid, though, if I have ever suggested that they should be censored or not express those views. And I have not and am unlikely to do so.

As he hasn't criticised all Jews or anyone for being Jewish and limited his comments to being about Israel we don't know that he is anti-semitic.
When he referred to "the Jews" earlier in the year he said that he was "saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps, be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza".

The Board of Deputies complained about that as it "deliberately abused the memory of the Holocaust".
Quite how they came to that conclusion is beyond me but there is a view out there that criticising Israel is automatically anti-semitic, a view which to me is utterly ridiculous.

No.

You are regarded, here, as a homophobe for a long history of posts about sexuality that considerably predate the equal marriage issue.

But you have not been censored. You have not been banned for those opinions.

Get it now?

O/T but it became law yesterday. You and your mrs filed for divorce yet? Or is the whole "affecting marriage" thing the biggest scaremongering bullshine for some time?

What are your views on people of the same sex, who are not gay, marrying?
